The buzz about Balfour Brut Rosé
New Vineyard in 2008
20th May 2008
2008 has seen the planting of an additional 7.6 acres (3.0702) of vines, bringing the total up to 12 acres (4.858 ha). The new vineyard has been planted with the same varieties and in the same proportions that have proved so successful in the existing vineyards. The site, mainly facing slightly east of south, is well sheltered from the prevailing south-westerly winds by rising ground, together with some woodland. The soils are similar to the initial vineyard, although slightly lighter in texture. As with the first vineyard, the whole site has been tile-drained to improve early spring conditions and bring the vines into leaf as soon as possible. The vines have been machine-planted using the latest laser-guided planting machine and will be trained and trellised on the same VSP system as used in the other vineyards.
